Anonymous: Okay but I read this theory on tumblr (it might have actually been from this blog...haha) that twin skeleton's could be about the last show right before the hiatus and I think about that a lot. I think it really fits with the lyrics (even though I don't know exactly what went down before before the hiatus but still)
Oh that might have been me, I mentioned that a while back. Basically the last show before the hiatus was in New York, so the song could be read as Pete being scared that he’s about to lose Patrick, and the hotel in question is the one they stayed at before or after that last show.
“if you just hold on” = Patrick was the one who called for the hiatus, Pete didn’t want to stop, so he’s hoping Patrick will change his mind.
“till we’re twins again” = until FOB gets back together (also Pete has often compared him and Patrick’s way of writing together as cryptophasia, which means the language between twins).
“till you find what you love” = Patrick wanted to explore other music outside of FOB.
“i need a new partner in crime” = because Patrick had been his partner in crime until now but it’s over.
“birth and a death on the same day” = FOB dies but Soul Punk!Patrick is born.
and so on…
What’s interesting is that reading the song this way doesn’t even have to imply a romance. It can just be read as someone who’s sad about losing his friend. (Although Pete did describe it as a love song when they premiered it, haha.)
